Abstract
The increase in the survival curve of cancer patients and more and the improvement of diagnostic methods have contributed to an increase in the number of patients with pacemakers who are undergoing radiotherapeutic treatment. There are many risk factors, but having an electronic heart stimulation system should not be a contraindication to treatment. Planning such treatment is quite a challenge, because ionizing radiation is not neutral to this type of devices. Medical physicists and radiotherapists should apply the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievale) when planning radiotherapy. A number of guidelines have been developed that should be followed to reduce the risk of damage to the stimulator.
